Inlandsbanan travel-time guarantee - delay, Resplus and cancelled journeys

Inlandsbanan calls its delay compensation a travel-time guarantee. In its travel conditions, Inlandsbanan says that after a delay of more than one hour you can choose between a new ticket for the same route or financial compensation.

Inlandsbanan's travel-time guarantee

• At least 60 minutes late: a new ticket for the same route or 25% of the ticket price back.
• At least 120 minutes late: a new ticket for the same route or 50% of the ticket price back.
• Keep your booking confirmation, ticket, times, receipts and information about replacement transport.

If you travelled with a Resplus ticket, Inlandsbanan points travellers to Resplus delay compensation . In that case, the Resplus flow and the operator that caused the delay normally control the claim.

If the train is delayed or cancelled, follow information from Inlandsbanan and staff on site. Depending on the situation, you may have the right to continue, be rebooked, travel later or receive a refund for the part of the journey you do not use.

First check which ticket you have

• Resplus: use Resplus delay compensation and state which operator caused the delay.
• Separate Inlandsbanan booking: use Inlandsbanan's customer service and travel conditions as the starting point.
• Inlandsbanekort, Interrail or Eurail: check the ticket conditions and keep proof that you intended to travel on the affected departure.
• Do not choose expensive self-arranged solutions without documenting why they were necessary and what information you received.

For longer rail delays, food, drinks, hotels or alternative travel may become relevant under the general rail passenger rights. Inlandsbanan's own travel-time guarantee is mainly about a new ticket or financial compensation, while extra costs must be clearly connected to the delay.

• Keep receipts for food, drinks, accommodation, taxi or other transport.
• Costs need to be reasonable and directly connected to the delay.
• If you arrange other travel yourself, you need to be able to show that it was necessary and that you did not receive workable rebooking.
• For Resplus, the claim is normally handled through the Resplus flow.

Inlandsbanan's travel conditions also include rules for voluntary cancellation, package trips, cancellation insurance and the travel guarantee through Kammarkollegiet. Those are not the same as compensation when a train is delayed or cancelled.

• Delayed or cancelled train: use the travel-time guarantee, rail passenger rights or Resplus.
• Voluntary cancellation: check the cancellation terms, ticket type and any cancellation insurance.
• Package trip: check the package-travel conditions separately, especially if accommodation or activities were included.
